Radio Nowhere, Case Closed (Edinburgh)

Radio Nowhere, Case Closed (Edinburgh)

Radio Nowhere can’t really be classed as an ‘escape room’, or not in my eyes anyway. It has a couple of puzzles but it’s perhaps closer to what I hear Jubensha is – kinda like a live-action whodunnit where the whole purpose is to piece together the information you need. Some people will love it, some probably not so much.

Locked In Edinburgh: Distillery (Edinburgh)

The mission with this game is to identify the guilty party, and I can 100% say that we would have failed this without Liz. I am terrible at story but fortunately Liz seemed to know what was going on – phew. Not the most challenging of games but still no less fun. I’m glad we left this game to last as it was nice to finish on a game that was just good clean fun.

Locked In Glasgow: Ghost Hunters (Glasgow)

This game has so much potential. It’s a big space, with good puzzles and some fun moments, but for me it needed a bit more atmosphere and I feel like they should have pushed harder on the ghostbusters connection (copyright allowing of course).

Locked In Glasgow: Doll's House (Glasgow)

A creepy experience but certainly not full on horror. The puzzles in Doll’s House, and all the items we found felt like they fitted the theme nicely. Again, nothing ground-breaking from Locked In Glasgow, but still a fun experience and worth playing if you’re in the area.

Locked In Glasgow: Glasgow School of Magic (Glasgow)

There’s no getting around it, this would be a good game for beginners or families and probably not overly challenging for enthusiasts. Saying that, it’s still a fun game and it has its moments.

Locked In Edinburgh: Space Academy (Edinburgh)

Space Academy was a fun experience with plenty of tech and theatrics to boot. I wouldn’t want to play this in a massive team, but four players would probably be a good number. A solid set, fun puzzles, and a lovely host made for an enjoyable experience for us.

Locked In Edinburgh: The Secret Lab (Edinburgh)

Locked In Edinburgh: The Secret Lab (Edinburgh)

The Secret Lab was definitely one of my favourite games that we played in Edinburgh and Glasgow. It was basically just one massive puzzle session. So if you’re looking for a game to occupy a large team, or stretch a smaller one, then this could be the game you are looking for.

Case Closed: The Murder of Max Sinclair (Edinburgh)

If I could say one thing about Case Closed and The Murder of Max Sinclair, it’s that this isn’t your usual escape room. But it also isn’t your usual detective investigation either. Whatever it is, it’s 90 minutes of pure fun.

Escape the Past: The Anatomist (Edinburgh)

Escape the Past: The Anatomist (Edinburgh)

The Anatomist is one of those games that you could probably class as a ‘traditional’ escape room. It probably won’t blow you away, but it’s likely to give you a good time and help you feel like you’ve lived some of Edinburgh’s ‘darker’ history. There aren’t a huge amount of games in Edinburgh, but if you’re looking for games to play while you’re in the city, then this isn’t a bad shout.
